Analyzing job requirements for web developers posted online, I formed my opinion about this highly demanded position. Profession of web developer embraces vast variety of programming skills. Before starting a career, candidate has to obtain knowledge of programming languages such as PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; be able to effectively utilize software like web server Apache, MySQL database, Wordpress publishing platform, PHPBB forum, etc.
Companies are looking for applicants with at least 2 years of web programming experience, who are able to write clean, high quality code. Candidates must have excellent problem solving, communication, and organization skills; ability to identify issues and provide effective solutions. Many of forthcoming duties may be different from those listed in the position description, thus web developers have to be fast and dexterous learners. Web developers can work in the office as well as remotely, since coding part does not require constant surveillance by project managers and all communication can be also implemented via Internet, for instance, by using Skype. Salary range may vary between $30000 and $100000, depending on education obtained, past work experience and level of expertise.
