A Graphic Designer works for many different businesses/organizations to promote products and services. The main goal is effective communication, and for the "target audience" to understand the message. They need to create a unique and appealing layout that works with the company. They create sketches, layouts, paintings, logos, and other designs that requires artistic ability. The most common designs you would see from a Graphic Designer would be in magazines, or newspapers.
Many skills are needed for Graphic Designers such as, style, creativity, photography, and an understanding of web development. Artistic talent is a definite asset, but isn't the most important if the designer has a good eye for the overall picture. They also need to be able to meet with clients and understand what they are requesting the overall picture to look like. They can work with a design team, or even a client.
